Inauguration Day Videos: Donald Trump Sworn in as 45th U.S. President

At noon on Friday, January 20, 2017, Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States of America, succeeding the country’s first African American president, Barack Obama. And former Indiana governor Mike Pence was sworn in as the new Vice President.

Trump was elected in November by winning the Electoral College but losing the popular vote. Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by almost 3 million votes, making history by being the first woman to not only win a major party nomination but also earning votes in a general election.

High-profile political figures were in attendance at the Inauguration, including Hillary and Bill Clinton, George W. and Laura Bush, and Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter.

You can watch the major moments in the videos below.

Trump’s speech was notable for how negative it ended up being, in which the new President attacked the government that he now leads. And, of course, he ended with his signature campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”

During the ceremony, America’s Got Talent alum Jackie Evancho performed the National Anthem:

The rest of the day includes a lunch with political leaders, the Inauguration parade and the Inaugural balls.
