‘SNL’: Watch Kate McKinnon Play Jeff Sessions in ‘Forrest Gump’ Role

There’s been a lot of news lately surrounding the Trump Administration, from President Donald Trump’s Address to Congress, Attorney General Jeff Sessions lying under oath and even Kellyanne Conway sitting with her feet on the coach in the Oval Office.

So Saturday Night Live had plenty of things to spoof this weekend. They ended up going with Sessions–with a twist.

Cast member Kate McKinnon, who has played Sessions before, stepped back into those shoes but this time with the Attorney General as Forrest Gump. And McKinnon hilarious succeeded on all levels, from alluding to Sessions being racist to what is possibly the best line from this cold open: “This is my best good friend, Kellyanne. She ain’t got no legs.” McKinnon then briefly broke character and started laughing before quickly recovering.

Another highlight from the sketch was when episode host Octavia Spencer played her character Minnie from The Help and gave McKinnon’s Sessions a special pie. If you’ve seen The Help, you know exactly what kind of pie that was. Gross.

Later, during Weekend Update, Alex Moffatt and Mikey Day played Trump’s children, Eric and Donald, Jr., respectively. SNL‘s Eric admitted that their father is still involved in the company:

Sessions wasn’t the only political figure that McKinnon played during this episode. While not part of any sketch, there were a few moments when she imitated Kellyanne Conway sitting on the Oval Office couch, as the show was going into commercial breaks and during breaks.

Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:35pm on NBC. Scarlett Johansson is hosting the next episode, with Lorde as the musical guest.
